Sarah Galea & Simon Galea Testaferrata attended the mid-year meeting of State Capital Group (SCG) held in Berlin last May. State Capital Group is a worldwide network of leading law firms from 62 countries spanning all continents. It comprises over 12,000 lawyers practicing in all areas of law, many of whom are leaders in their sectors. SCG holds several meetings annually across the globe, and this year’s Berlin meet was successful both in attendance and content.

A number of leading practitioners addressed the meeting on a variety of subjects. The meeting discussed many topical matters, ranging from challenges met by law firms such as staff and client retention, to growing areas like ESG (Environment Social & Governance) & DEI (Diversity Equity & Inclusion). Other interesting areas discussed included IT (legal tech), employment laws & trends, cross-border mergers & acquisitions, bankruptcies, insolvencies and restructurings, cybersecurity and data protection.

Iuris Advocates has been a member of SCG for several years, and is the only Maltese law firm to form part of this prestigious legal network. The meeting offered Iuris an excellent opportunity to promote its services amongst its international counterparts, and to learn from the wealth of knowledge and experiences shared by the attendees and speakers.
